YHJ and Deputy Service in general:
- What is YHJ?
- YHJ (Yahoo! Japan Auctions) is the "Ebay" of Japan! Hundreds of thousands of items are available to bid on.
- Why use a deputy service?
- A vast majority of sellers will not sell to customers outside of Japan. Even if they did, paying for your items can be a huge obsticle. We take care of all of that for you.
- How do I search for items and auctions?
- You can use our search engines at smjsearch.com to help you on your way, or you can request a specific search on our forums. Even if you don't know any Japanese, you may still be able to cut / paste certain Japanese characters into the search form. Just be sure your browser can disply Japanese characters, if not, there are usualy patches and downloads provided by your browsers maker available so you can display them.
- How do I bid on auctions and place shop orders?
- After you register and get an account activated with us, its simply a matter of using the proper form. Links are at the top of our pages.
- Are some items not allowed though your deputy?
- Huge items like vehicles, appliances, etc. are not allowed. Car parts are restricted to automotive accounts. Otherwise, simply use your common sense. If you can't ship it at the post office, you won't be able to bid. We have more details in our Terms & Policies page.
- What can I order with the Special Order service?
- Almost anything! If the Japan Post will ship it, chances are we can order it. The only requirement is that the website take a "wire" for payment, which is very common in Japan and most all sites accept them.
- Any restrictions to the type of items I can order?
- In most cases, there are no restrictions. You can get just about anything you want. Only flammable items and real weapons cannot be shipped overseas. Also, removeable lithium batteries cannot be sent overseas. Items such as an iPhone can since the battery is built in, but something like a laptop with removeable battery cannot. Such items can be shipped without the battery though, so if you purchase an item with a removeable battery we may have to remove it before shipping.
- Do you accept international customers?
- We sure do! Our service is open nearly worldwide.

|
Payments and Deposits:
- What forms of payment do you accept?
- We take credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express) and Paypal. We have phased out money orders and checks, but should you have any payment issues and those are your last options please contact us and we can make arrangements.
- How do I make a deposit?
- After you register we will send you a deposit request with complete instructions. Final activation after we recieved your deposit is typically within 24 hours.
- When will I recieve an invoice for my winnings?
- We can typically invoice you for orders 3 to 5 days after its end. However, it all depends on how quickly the seller operates and bills us. Sometimes its quick, other times it can take many days. Please sit back, be patient, and we'll get that invoice out as soon as we can.
- How do I pay my invoice?
- Normal invoices and shipping invoices will both have complete instructions on how to pay.
- How long do I have to pay? Are there any late fees?
- Generally you have 14 days from the day we send your invoice.
- Can I add to my deposit?
- You sure can! For full details be sure to look over our deposits page over in the Service Info section.

Placing a bid:
- Is it real time bidding?
- All standard YHJ auctions bid on through our automated system are in real time. Other auctions and items are not.
- How do I know what I'm bidding on.
- Usually its pretty obvious, but be sure to use the translators to help out! If you're unsure about an item then its best not to bid.
- What if the seller won't ship internationally?
- Thats why we're here. It doesn't matter if they ship internationally or not, we'll still get it for you.
- How do I know my bid was placed?
- You will want to check your account info page and see if the order number is listed. Be sure to give it some time to update. It may not show up right away.
- Can I use the automated system to bid on Adult items or dutch (multiple item) auctions?
- Most adult items related to anime can be bid on using the automated system. Some adult goods are restricted to manual bidding . Dutch auctions are not handled by our automated system and must use the manual bid form.
- How do I know if I won or not?
- If you win you'll get a "congratulations" email. If you lose or get outbid, you'll receive such a notice as well. Don't always go by the user info page as sometimes it needs time to scan and update your auctions. Outbid notices are generally quick, but not in real time. Be sure to give the system time to update and wait for that email notice to be sure!
- Can I raise my bid?
- You sure can. Just bid on it the same way as you did prior.
- Can I cancel my bid?
- Under no circumstance can a bid be canceled. If you bid on the wrong item, if you bid the wrong amount, or if you simply can't afford the item, you will NOT be able to cancel the bid. This is why we have bid confirmation screen so you can review you bid.
- Another SMJ user is already bidding, can I still bid?
- Yes you can! This ability is described as a bidwar in our fees page.

Shipping and Storage:
- How long will it take to get my items?
- This all depends on how fast the seller operates, how fast the postal system works, customs clearance, and how you request an item shipped. Shipping times are almost never predictable.
- Are items stored in the USA?
- If you live in the USA or Canada yes they are, otherwise they are stored in japan. Better details can be found in the Shipping and Storage service info pages.
- Can I store items in Japan (North American customer)?
- Generally this is not a wise decision unless you plan to purchase many large and heavy items. If so, contact us and we can set that up for you.
- What does "SMJ Ship" include?
- SMJ Ship includes the total shipping charges required to get the item from the seller in Japan, to whichever storage facility your items are being stored at.
- How do I request items shipped to me?
- Items are not typically shipped out automaticly unless they qualify as an "auto-shippment". They are stored in one of our facilities. You must make a shipping request when you want them shipped out.
- How long can I store items?
- They can be stored in Japan for 60 days, the US office for up to 90 days.
- Can you have the seller ship directly to me.
- Sorry, but with the exception of rare cases as determined by the Tokyo staff, we will never ask the seller to ship directly to you even if they do ship internationally. All items purchased through us must be shipped though us.
- Are packages shipped insured?
- All packages are insured for the value of the item by default unless the chosen / used shipping option doesn't allow insurance such as SAL-printed, Standard Air, and SEA. The maximum we can insure a package for cannot exceed the declared value of the items.
- My items were damaged in shipping. What now?
- You must go file a claim with your local post office as soon as you can. Keep the items and the box. If you're able, please take some clear photos and email them to us with all the details.

|
Special Orders and Shop Orders:
- Can these combine and ship with auctions and other purchases?
- Are pre-orders ok?
- Yes they are, and we'll invoice you when the seller bills us. Sometimes thats up front, other times it may not be until the item is released.
- Can I modify my order after its been submitted?
- Typically no. You can email us with the request but if the order was already processed chances are it cannot be changed.
- How can I search these places?
- Ppay a visit to our sistr site smjsearch.com. Those would be "Bidders Stores", "Rakuten Stores", "Yahoo Stores", etc.

|
Translation help and contacting the sellers:
- Can you translate auctions?
- We can't translate them for you, but there are many online programs that can. Just check our tutorials page for more assistance.
- Can you ask the seller a question for me?
- Questions can be asked but only on current running auctions, and must pertain to the auction itself. We cannot negotiate deals behind the auction interface or contact sellers on auctions that have already closed.
|
|
Payment issues:
- I need a few extra days to pay, can you help?
- We will always offer a few extra days in good faith, all you have to do is ask.
- I'm just a little late with payment, will I still be charged a late fee?
- Typically if you're just a few days late we'll waive the late fee. We understand that things do come up occasionally. We don't like charging late fees just as much as you would like paying them.
- If your credit card is declined....
- We will contact you and ask if you have an alternative method to pay. Depending on the amount, we may or may not lock your account. Each situation will be evaluated.
- If your payment is charged back to us....
- Your account will be locked untill we can settle the problem.
